I am a Psychology degree graduate of University of Manchester I have two post graduate diplomas one in Counselling and the second in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, I also have a MSc in counselling skills. I am an accredited EMDR Therapist and Accredited Consultant Supervisor.
As well as working in my own practice I continue to work in the NHS as a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist /EMDR Therapist in an IAPT service. These services are widely acknowledged as world leaders in providing evidence based psychological treatments for people with mental health issues.
I started my career as a therapist working with children and adolescents for a charity and then moved on to work for various NHS trusts in outpatient mental health services working with adults experiencing a variety of anxiety and mood disorders, grief and loss.
It was at this time that I began studying and working with trauma and the impact of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TfCBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help individuals cope with complex traumatic experiences. Both CBT and EMDR have been found to be helpful for individuals with chronic issues resulting from trauma.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live a happy, peaceful and progressive life. Often at times our experiences cause us to feel stuck, stagnant, and unable to progress to the next stage in our life. I can help YOU learn how to transform your life experiences, your building blocks, into tools to help catapult you to the next stage in your life. We are all passengers on the train of life and with help, we can all reach our destination.
I am an EMDR UK and Ireland approved Accredited Consultant. I have significant experience of clinically supervising both individuals and groups in the application of EMDR with a broad range of adult client groups. I supervise s EMDR therapists within the NHS and private practice across the North West. Supervisees have varying levels of experience. I aim to successfully support EMDR therapists in becoming Accredited Practitioners.
For more information regarding EMDR supervision please visit the EMDR Association website. The link is provided in the ‘Useful links/Resources’ tab on this website. Alternatively, please feel free to make an enquiry directly with myself.
I offer individual and group, face-to-face or online supervision via telephone or video call.
During your Basic EMDR trainings, your trainer will provide you with consultant supervision to cover cases your are working on at that time.
You may or may not choose to seek additional supervision; however if you are using EMDR then it is advisable that you seek an appropriate level of clinical supervision and work within the remit of your capabilities. If you wish to count client cases towards becoming an Accredited Practitioner then you will require EMDR supervision from an approved consultant.
You are not required to become an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, although it really does ensure that you have a solid foundation in using EMDR. It also means that you can choose to be listed on the EMDR Association website as an Accredited Practitioner, which is where many people search for an approved EMDR therapist in their area.

EMDR is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an innovative clinical treatment originated and developed by Dr Francine Shapiro in 1987. EMDR is effective in treating individuals who have experienced psychological difficulties arising from traumatic experiences, such as assault, road traffic accidents, war trauma, torture, natural or man-made disasters, sexual abuse and childhood neglect. EMDR is also increasingly used to treat symptoms which are not necessarily trauma-related, such as panic disorder, phobias, performance anxiety, self-esteem issues and other anxiety-related disorders.
